Welcome Internationally Educated Nurses!
Navigating the licensing process can be complex. We have compiled the essential official resources and steps required by the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) and immigration authorities to help guide your journey
1. Educational & Credential Evaluations
Before practicing, your academic background must be officially evaluated by provincial authorities.
General Academic Studies: If your general education was completed outside of Quebec, you must request an official evaluation.
Nursing-Specific Credentials: Nurses educated outside of Canada must apply directly to the provincial nursing board
2. Canadian Applicants & Integration Programs
Are you already licensed elsewhere in Canada, or preparing for your local integration period?
Nurses Licensed in Other Canadian Provinces: If you hold a valid RN license from another Canadian province or territory, your pathway follows specific reciprocity guidelines.
Professional Integration Programs: Most international nurses are required to complete a professional integration program.
